The Youth Program will start at 9:00 AM at
the Habitat build site in the Issaquah Highlands and end in Kirkland
at the IMAN center around 7:30 in the evening. Both lunch and dinner
will be provided. Because of liability restrictions with Habitat for
Humanity, youth must be at least 14 years old. Please contact Dave
Sanford (DaveSanford@Live com or 425-392-7223) to let him know if
your youth will be participating and how many to expect.
The youth will be working adjacent to the main Habitat build site
and alongside some of the adults. We will be pre-painting the HardiePlank
that goes up on the building exterior. Everyone should be dressed
for whatever the weather will be, and wearing clothes they can paint
in. If the weather is wet, we will be working under a big awning,
but we will be working. Pray for good weather.
At some point after lunch at the work site, the youth will break off
for a discussion group among themselves. This is an opportunity for
them to ask questions of each other and learn something about the
differences and similarities of our various religious backgrounds.
It is hoped that the kids can do some thinking before hand on what
they want to ask.
The Habitat site will be closing around 4:30, and at this time, the
youth will be transported over to IMAN. It is hoped that each youth
group will have sufficient chaperones present to both help manage
the day, as well as accomplish the transportation. There should be
at least some of the adult workers at the site who are also expecting
to attend the interfaith service who can help out, if needed, with
this transportation.
At IMAN, there will be an opportunity for kids to change clothes if
needed. Given that we will be painting during the day, it is probably
a good idea that they bring some fresh clothes, and again be aware
of the dress code at IMAN - removing shoes, conservative dress, and
head scarves for the young women.
After the service and dinner, the youth program will end right around
7:30 PM. |
